"Employees join organizations but leave bosses. What is it like in your organization?" If your answer to this question reminds you of the boss who explodes when a deadline is missed, or the co-worker whom no one trusts, then you and your organization could benefit from Social and Emotional Intelligence (S+EI) coaching.
Most people have heard of "emotional intelligence" , - and recent research suggests that our success in work and life is driven far more by our emotional intelligence (EQ) than by our cognitive intelligence (IQ). And the beautiful thing? While IQ remains pretty much fixed from birth, EQ (or S+EI) can be learned.
Social and Emotional intelligence is about being aware of ourselves and others, in the moment, and using that awareness to manage ourselves (our behavior, our responses to stressful or challenging situations), and manage our relationships with others. Social and emotional intelligence encompasses many skill sets, including stress management, resilience, managing conflict productively, powerful influencing skills, catalyzing change, teamwork and collaboration, building trust and much more.
According to Laura Belsten, Ph.D., founder of the Institute for Social + Emotional Intelligence ®, "Cultivating a culture where leaders have high social and emotional intelligence creates proven results in increased productivity, increased sales and profits, reduced healthcare costs, increased employee satisfaction and improved employee engagement to name a few,"
The half-day workshop will focus on Social and Emotional Intelligence (S+EI), and will cover an introduction to the topic, a review of the 26 S+EI competencies, and a segment on the "so-what question" (or the business and health case for social + emotional intelligence). In addition, an overview of the most comprehensive emotional intelligence assessment instrument on the market today, the Social and Emotional Intelligence Profile (SEIP) ® assessment, will be provided. Once the workshop concludes you will take the (SEIP) ® assessment. The assessment results will provide our Certified Social and Emotional Intelligence Coach immediate insights into your strengths and potential development needs when it comes to social and emotional intelligence, allowing you to target the most important areas for development first.
Studies indicate that the best way to enhance our social and emotional intelligence (S+EI) skills is through coaching. Personal coaching will be included to workshop participants to provide a personalized debriefing on their assessment results, answer questions individuals may not wish to ask in the public workshop forum, and to support them in the process of creating an individual development and action plan. The coaching portion of the program is included at no additional charge. The coaching session will be 30-45 minutes, and will be made available to participants as a follow-up.
