Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental illnesses, builds understanding of their impact, and gives an overview of common supports. This 8-hour course uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to offer initial help in a mental health crisis and connect persons to the appropriate care.
Dr. Julia Bernard is Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Services at East Tennessee State University. She has published on sibling relationships, ethics, and the family. Besides being a Certified Mental Health First Aid instructor, she is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Clinical Fellow in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, a Certified Family Life Educator (through the National Council on Family Relations) and a Board Certified Human Services Practitioner.
A certificate for 0.8 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) is available for $25.00. You will need to request this at time of registration under Optional Fees.
