Opening Keynote Speaker-Dr. Paul Farmer
“To Repair the World: Dr. Farmer Speaks to the Next Generation”
Dr. Paul Farmer, a leading voice on global health equity and social justice, reveals how to harness creativity, passion, teamwork, and determination to make the world a better place.

Dr. Farmer stimulates you to imagine a more secure and humane world, where health care, safe drinking water, and other basic human rights are the norm. With convincing examples, the founder of Partners in Health lays out a compelling vision for how anyone has the power to make significant change in our world, with innovation, passion, and teamwork. He outlines his philosophies in multiple best-selling books, including his most recent, Fevers, Feuds, and Diamonds: Ebola and the Ravages of History.

Dr. Farmer’s assertive presence on stage conveys a palpable optimism that leaves listeners uplifted and prepared to confront difficult issues. With insightful perspective and inspiring success stories, Dr. Farmer rouses you to join him on his campaign to develop the innovative solutions for a better tomorrow.

Day Two - Closing Keynote Speaker-Vernon Wall
"Creating a Campus Culture Committed to Equity & Inclusion”
Vernon A. Wall has accumulated over 30 years of professional Student Affairs experience at Iowa State University, the University of Georgia, UNC-Charlotte and UNC-Chapel Hill. He has experience in Greek life, new student orientation, student activities, leadership development, global education and university housing. Vernon currently lives in Washington DC where he serves as the Director of Business Development for LeaderShape, Inc.

Vernon is also President and Founder of One Better World, LLC – a consulting firm specializing in engaging others in courageous social justice and equity conversations. In spring of 1998, Vernon sailed with Semester at Sea as a member of the Student Life Team accompanying 600 students on a voyage around the world. Vernon is also a past President of ACPA – College Student Educators, International.

With degrees from North Carolina State University and Indiana University, Vernon is the consummate scholar-practitioner. Vernon is a nationally known speaker in the areas of social justice and leadership styles and is one of the founders and facilitators of the Social Justice Training Institute. Vernon has written several articles and has co-edited two books on issues of inclusion on today’s college campus. His award-winning programs and presentations have been seen by thousands of students, faculty, and staff on campuses across the country. Vernon’s passion for social justice and inclusion is grounded in a quote from his late grandmother: “May the work I’ve done speak for me.”

General CEU's (Continuing Education Units) are available at a $25.00 fee.

Eligible ETSU employees may use the education assistance form when registering for this conference. Please fill out the Educational Benefits Form, click here for form and email it to Betsy Cunningham or mail it to the Office of Professional Development at PO Box 70559. Must be signed by registrant and supervisor for further processing.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:
There is a $15 processing charge (this is standard on most of our courses).

No refund after September 10, 2021. Paid registrations are transferable to another conference participant. Call 423-439-8266 or 1-800-222-ETSU (3878) for assistance.
